At TPE we are excited by the new work of Seoul based ceramicist Sanghyuk Yoon. Sanghyuk, who graduated from from the College of Arts in Seoul National University, pulls inspiration for his work from his location and Seoul’s diverse landscape. Working out of a detached house in the central neighborhood of Chungmuro alongside two other ceramic artist, the home has been converted to a studio where ceramic classes are also taught a few days a week. His one of a kind work, which focuses primarily on the material property in which the clay loses moisture, explores the various patterns which are created by shrinkage. Sanghyuk goes through several rounds with each piece of work to create its depth and and pattern. Come in to see his new work in person, at TPE in Manhattan, and online here.
