I've always liked things that let you leave the room without moving a muscle. That's probably why I keep going back to HOLIDAY, one of my favorite magazines that we carry in the shop. Every issue finds itself somewhere new, and the latest travels to Cartagena de Indias, a city García Márquez wrote about the way you write about someone you never quite got over. Faded colonial façades, salt air, a history as rich as it is unresolved.
What reading through the issue gives you is a feeling of being somewhere else entirely, if only for the time it takes to get through it. The selection that follows traces a similar path of thinking, small objects and routines that do the same work, pulling you out of your own head for a moment.

- A pink-blue swirl vase that caught me off guard with its swirly, cotton candy color.
- A plaid tablecloth in my favorite blue that feels familiar. It’s easy on the table or freckled with sand on the beach.
- A pair of teak and granite side tables, vintage and found, small enough to work anywhere, with an arch cut into the wood I keep coming back to.
- A bowl of potpourri from Japan, all frankincense and sandalwood and a little patchouli, that takes you somewhere warmer and slower and requires no blowing out.
- A gold dotted yellow glass bowl, one of one. It's not like anything I've seen in a while, and that’s a real commodity these days.
